Flexibility and freedom with DORMA’s HSW sliding wall system
Climate change and a general acceptance of what used to be called a ‘European’ lifestyle have, in recent years, resulted in most of us leading a much more ‘al fresco’ lifestyle. Shops, café’s, bars and restaurants with open or semi-open frontages are bustling places these days. To make life easier for these establishments and for showrooms and interiors too, DORMA has developed a horizontal sliding wall system known as DORMA HSW. It enables architects and designers to create entrances, internal partitions and display windows that can be easily moved out of the way to leave a lighter, brighter, barrier free area. Café’s and restaurant’s can really optimise their capacity by using the system, particularly if there is a terrace involved. Whatever the type of establishment, another advantage with DORMA HSW is that with Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act coming into force in October of this year when rolled back, the system really helps an establishment meet compliance. The unobstructed freedom offered is ideal for providing safe access and egress for people with disabilities.
DORMA is one of the world’s leading suppliers of automatic and manual door systems and the sliding wall system is a product of the highest quality, in terms of both aesthetics and performance. The HSW system is available in a range of variants with either framed or unframed panels. Virtually any shade and colour combination for the fitting surfaces is possible - so the system can be integrated perfectly into the façade and interior design solution. The beauty of the system is that there are no floor channels or guides, so there are no breaks in your flooring material and no dirt traps or obstacles underfoot to trip over. Any, or all, of the sliding panels can be equipped to act as single, or double action swing doors and when the system is opened, the doors and panels are stacked in parking bays. DORMA HSW is available as a manual or automatic system and the partitions are so versatile, they can be installed practically anywhere. Curved panels can be supplied for semi-circular or curved profiles and straight panels too can be tracked around curves and corners – the system even allows right-angled corners to be accommodated. The maximum system height is 3000mm and each panel can be as wide as 1200mm.
