DORMA MOVEO – a revolutionary development in movable wall design

The DORMA MOVEO® system offers architects, designers, installers and end-users a unique lightweight, flexible and easy to operate movable wall solution with good sound insulation representing a revolutionary development in the design and manufacture of movable walls.

With the ever increasing demand for efficient and adaptable space utilisation in offices, hotels, conference centres, educational establishments, leisure amenities and exhibition halls, DORMA MOVEO® is the perfect answer to space management. The system’s sophisticated, compact construction – the two outer shells of the element are made from a glass fibre reinforced composite board – is up to 50% lighter than conventional movable walls and the ComforTronic® control system ensures problem-free securing and partition sealing every time. Its narrow, integrated, mechanically coded track switches and curves ensure that the ceiling guides remain discreetly inconspicuous, enhancing the general aesthetics of the system.

Effortless to move and with excellent sound insulation

There is a growing demand for space to be flexible. Hotels need to make their conference facilities more flexible to maximise revenue. Schools and offices need the freedom to change space to meet their varying needs on a daily basis. Key to this is a system which can be moved quickly and easily. Thanks to its exceptionally light weight, the MOVEO® panels can be moved quickly, accurately and effortlessly to their designated location.

Once in position it important that the top and bottom seals for each panel are extended, to ensure that the wall provides adequate sound insulation. However the walls are often put in place by inexperienced operators – if they forget to manually wind up the seals, sound will travel between rooms. To rectify the situation they have to open up the whole wall again. All this assumes that they have not mislaid the manual crank handle in the first place!
However, MOVEO features the ComforTronic® control system as standard. This ensures that the seals automatically extend every time – eliminating the need for any manual winding. In addition, the seal is seated with exactly the right contact pressure every time, ensuring partition stability and compliance with the specified sound reduction values. The accurate seating of the sealing strips means that an acoustic value of up to 55dB is achievable

Easier installation and simple servicing

It is not just simpler to operate, it also has benefits at the installation stage. All movable wall systems have to hang from steelwork erected in the ceiling void. With the typical weight of a panel being 60Kg/m2 the steelwork must be robust particularly in the stacking area. MOVEO® lightweight panels require less supporting steelwork and because the panels come to site pre-assembled the whole installation process is quicker and more efficient.
Once the wall is in position any servicing required for the ComforTronic® control system is simple as the motor can be replaced without the need to remove the panel from the track.

Product variations and a host of finishes

The DORMA MOVEO® system is available in four product variations to meet specific user requirements. The Smart Line is ideal for average room heights and low sound insulation requirements (37 dB), while the Business Line offers a solution for moderate to high sound insulation values (47 and 55 dB). High acoustic values (55 dB) combined with high-quality, surface finishes such as veneers are offered by the Design Line and for really robust and specialist applications, the Steel Line is the right solution.

The various surface finishes available are classified into three different ‘Collections’. The Design Collection comprises high-quality, genuine wood veneers, striking metal decors and RAL-painted surfaces. The Classic Collection contains particularly hard-wearing, scratch and impact-resistant surfaces in a variety of colours, as wood reproduction, or as textured decor finishes. Further alternatives are available in the Functional Collection, ranging from rugged steel sheet and write-on or magnetic cover panels, to surfaces that perform as overhead and daylight projector screens.

When it comes to parking the MOVEO® panels, there are six stacking alternatives and each takes up a relatively small area – which benefits the general aesthetics of the room – and their light weight means they have little effect on the structural integrity of the building.
