DORMA Protects Merchants Against Illegal Fire Door Sales

Selling the wrong ironmongery for use on fire doors is no longer a risk for Builders Merchants who display the new DORMA merchandising stands in their outlets.

Customers are guaranteed that products purchased from these units – which feature fully compliant DORMA ironmongery and LORIENT intumescent seals – will meet the requirements of the Construction Products Regulations 1991 and Building Regulations Approved Document B; when used together with a third party certificated door assembly, such as those from BWF-CERTIFIRE. If non-CERTIFIRE approved ironmongery or intumescents are used on BWF-CERTIFIED fire doors, the certification of the fire door is invalidated

Lives and property can be put at risk through incorrect product selection and this in turn could result in legal action and heavy fines – even a jail sentence – being imposed on the merchant outlet in question.

In addition to helping with compliance under Approved Document B, the door closers featured on the new DORMA stand also help customers meet the requirements of Approved Document M, which states maximum opening forces for manual doors – otherwise there is the additional possibilty of prosecution under the Disability Discrimination Act. The LORIENT intumescent seals featured on the units also help meet the requirements of Approved Document E, which stipulates the acoustic performance requirements of door assemblies in different situations.
