No Floor Spring Required with Clever New Double Action Hinge from DORMA

Toughened glass doors, for both commercial and private applications, are increasingly the preferred option these days, particularly the double-action style with its many functional advantages. However, convention has meant the fitting of a floor spring, with resultant coverplate, to bring the door safely back to its closed position. Not only a potential problem with practical issues such as existing under-floor heating systems or cutting into high quality flooring finishes, but a likely aesthetic issue as well, particularly in a domestic application.
Where a conventional floor spring arrangement has to be fitted in a commercial or office application, there is likely to be a raised access / computer floor and this is inevitably going to involve cutting into and possibly building up from the structural slab to house the floor spring. The double action hinge eliminates this labour intensive work and cost.

Exceptional design credentials

The new hinge from DORMA offers a double action closing function that brings the door safely back to a zero position, eliminating the need for a floor spring. The mechanism is cleverly and discreetly integrated within the robust fitting which can be installed directly into the masonry or in combination with an unrebated through-passage. more…
