DORMA stresses the importance of maintenance

Graham Botwright, head of DORMA’s service division stresses why during these difficult economic times maintenance of door systems is a vital service which should not be overlooked.

“Regular door maintenance reduces breakdowns and ultimately the accompanying inconvenience, such as potential loss of revenue, due to doors being out of commission. DORMA’s services division helps to combat this by making sure that all doors are in perfect working order and in the long term helping to reduce the cost of operating the door. With doors and their associated hardware and ironmongery they account for around 80% of a total maintenance bill. Regular servicing is not only a safety benefit, but also over time it can help to reduce costs as well.”

British Standards are becoming increasingly tough on door maintenance by introducing minimum levels that doors have to be maintained too. Especially in the case of doors when it can be difficult to recognise the potential dangers, DORMA’s service division helps to put business’ minds at ease that their workforce is safe.

With revisions of regulations regarding automatic doors, door closures and panic hardware including fire doors, there is no better time to make sure all doors are maintained. This is especially the case for fire doors, where the introduction of RR(FS)O in 2006 has made the responsibility for the safety of the employees firmly that of those who control the business.

DORMA offers a number of maintenance packages to suit all individual business requirements and many fully comprehensive maintenance agreements allow costs to be set in advance so they can be budgeted for.
