DORMA product range for prestigious hotel group

The prestigious Dakota Hotel group has increased its specification of DORMA automatics and movable wall products across the chain. To help maintain the luxurious aesthetics and design at the new Dakota Forth Bridge Hotel in Edinburgh, DORMA was specified to provide their ES200 automatic operators and MOVEO® movable wall system.

Paul Davies, Facilities Manager for the Dakota Hotel group comments on the companies’ existing relationship: “DORMA has supplied us with a variety of products throughout our other hotels and we are extremely pleased with their performance, stylish design and the level of service. We worked closely with the main contractor at Dakota Forth Bridge to ensure that, based on past performance, DORMA was specified.”

At Dakota Forth Bridge, with its visually dramatic building exterior which is clad almost entirely in polished black ceramic granite, it was important to continue the standard throughout the interior of the hotel. Fulfilling the brief for both aesthetic and functional entrances, architect careyjones specified DORMA ES200 automatic sliding operators in the main entrance to the hotel and at the bar and grill entrance.

The DORMA ES200 is an elegant and functional unit designed to meet the requirements of any automatic sliding door application. When combined with the broad range of surface finishes, three cover sizes and Contur perforated end caps, the unit can be incorporated seamlessly into any interior design environment. Featuring a smart self-monitoring system, the ES200 ensures that the sliding door opens automatically in the event of any emergency.

Another requirement at Dakota Forth Bridge was for a lightweight movable wall in the ground floor meeting room. Here, DORMA’s MOVEO® was installed in a sleek black finish. The MOVEO® system weighs around half that of any conventional system due to its innovative construction. The MOVEO® panels can be moved quickly, accurately and effortlessly to their required location and once in place the ComforTronic® control system comes into play, eliminating any need for the time and effort involved with manual crank mechanisms.

With the ComforTronic® control, panel seals are automatically extended when two elements come into contact, eliminating any possibility of operator error, guaranteeing that the MOVEO® wall is always securely sealed and ensuring sound attenuation levels of up to 55 dB.

Dakota has a number of locations throughout the UK and the first hotel, which opened in Nottingham in 2004, was notably commended by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine as one of the best new hotels in the country.

In addition to this latest project in Edinburgh, DORMA sliding doors and movable walls have been installed at Dakota hotels in Glasgow, Farnborough and Nottingham.
