DORMA curved sliding automatic door for busy University reception

DORMA has installed a BST automatic curved sliding door unit to the reception area entrance at the new Gateway to Hope Building at Liverpool Hope University. The modern new building houses all of the student support services, which means that the reception area has a very high traffic flow.

This particular application had to be reliable and aesthetically in keeping with the modern architecture, as well as playing a large part in helping to prevent heat loss from the reception area and protect from external dust and dirt as well”. Bishop Ian Stuart, the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Support & Well-being) said, “this DORMA door provides an attractive and efficient means of entry to our new landmark building”.

The DORMA BST automatic curved sliding doors are available in a number of configurations and can be designed as curved semi-circles and segments, full circle, oval and double-segment units – or as specially tailored units combining any of these basic shapes. The door systems are manufactured as either concave or convex assemblies, they perform draught exclusion and airlock functions and the specially developed all glass appearance fine-framed profiles, with their protected edges, seem to add additional space even in restricted areas.
DORMA has extended its portfolio of BST automatic curved sliding doors with the introduction of a new ‘Comfort Line’, developed to complement the well established ‘Special Line’ range.


Whilst the ‘Special Line’ provides customers with a bespoke and customised design service, the new ‘Comfort Line’ offers a range of six pre-determined diameters in a half circle (180°) or full circle (360°) designs.
