Maximising valuable space – DORMA MOVEO® chosen by NHS Trust in Leicestershire
The new Herschel Prins Centre in Leicester, a low security facility for people with mental health problems, had an important requirement for efficient, adaptable space utilisation. They specified the MOVEO® movable wall system from DORMA, one of the lightest yet most acoustically effective products of its kind.
The new centre provides specialised health care for mentally ill patients and as with most hospital environments, the clever use of space is often vital in the running of the facility. Following careful assessment of the technical capabilities and performance of MOVEO®, the product was specified and is now installed at the Herschel Prins Centre. Moving the system into position is extremely easy when compared with conventional movable wall products – and it is literally half the weight of competing systems. As a result the MOVEO® panels can be moved into place by anyone, quickly and accurately to their required location.
Once in place the ComforTronic® control system, which is provided as a standard feature, comes into play eliminating any need for the time and effort involved with manual crank mechanisms. With the ComforTronic® control, panel seals are automatically extended when two elements come into contact, eliminating any possibility of operator error, guaranteeing that the wall is always securely sealed and ensuring outstanding sound attenuation levels of up to 55 dB.
The MOVEO® system can be installed into and transform almost any indoor space. With no winding key, areas can be closed off and opened up quickly and without hassle.
The MOVEO® movable wall at the Herschel Prins Centre is 3.5m long and 2.4 m high, with a beech finish. The finishes available are classified into three different ‘Collections’. The Design Collection comprises high-quality, genuine wood veneers, striking metal decors and RAL-painted surfaces. The Classic Collection contains particularly hardwearing, scratch and impact-resistant surfaces in a variety of colours, as wood reproduction, or as textured decor finishes. Further alternatives are available in the Functional Collection, ranging from rugged steel sheet and write-on or magnetic cover panels, to surfaces that perform as overhead and daylight projector screens.
