DORMA automatics for luxury Chester Hotel and Spa
DORMA has supplied a range of automatic door operators, as part of modernisation work being carried out at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Spa, just south of Chester. During an eight month, three-phase schedule, DORMA has installed ES 200 automatic sliding doors and ED 200i automatic swing doors to five entrances throughout the venue.
Four bi-parting ES 200 sliding operators and one ED 200i swing door were installed in total. Three of the ES 200’s are located in the spa area, with one at the spa entrance outer doors, and two others between the spa and restaurant and spa and retail section. The fourth is installed at the entrance to the Grosvenor Suite, the main function suite for weddings and events. The ED 200i swing door operator is installed on the inner doors of the spa area entrance.
All the DORMA operators meet the exceptionally high specification of the hotel interior and feature stainless steel, polished glass and slim frames. The operators compliment the glass design at the entrances, which has been enhanced by the owners adding floral manifestations, etched into the surface.
The DORMA ES 200 units are striking in their design, with classic lines and a wide choice of surface finishes, complete with end caps in a classic perforated appearance. They are optionally available with Dual-Drive technology for use in emergency exits and escape routes. This exceptionally smart self-monitoring system ensures that the sliding door opens automatically in the event of any emergency.
The ED 200i is also elegantly designed. It does not incorporate any bulky box units or swing arms and with a drive unit just 150mm high by 152mm deep, the unit fits almost invisibly within the transom of the door – making it the ideal swing door operator for any application where aesthetics are paramount.
The Grosvenor Pulford is a family run hotel and while it has been systematically refurbished as a modern luxury hotel and spa, its fine old mid-Victorian country house character has been carefully retained. The beautiful external appearance of the building belies the modern interior, which comprises 73 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, bars, two superb restaurants and a remarkable choice of luxurious spa facilities.
Mr Nelson, owner of The Grosvenor Pulford, comments: “We have developed a close working relationship with DORMA and feel that their products have effectively contributed to the ambience we strive to create in the hotel. It was crucial that we maintained a high quality and luxurious environment throughout, and DORMA fulfilled these requirements. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”
