Automatic Sliding Door Operators What are the maximum door leaf heights and opening widths? Is the maintenance for sliding doors mandatory and if so, how often?Do my doors need to break out on a fire escape route? Can the operator be fixed directly to a glass transom panel? How deep do I need to design my lobby to create an air lock?
This is dependent on the site location, the product selected and the type of operator. Guidance is provided in our technical brochure, however we would recommend that you contact 01462 477600 for specific advice on larger door sizes.
BS 7036 : Part 1: 1996 states that ' to ensure safe operation, long term reliability and working efficiency a powered door (including safety device's and safety systems) should be: · Regularly maintained to the manufacturers specification by the powered door systems authorised technicians; and: · Annually inspected in accordance with the recommendations of BS 7036 by completion of an authorised technician's checklist. Please contact DORMA's Service Division on 01462 477602 for details of our full range of service contracts.
This is dependent on individual building control authorities approach to the Building Regulations. The majority accept the doors being linked to an automatic fire detection system that opens the doors on activation of the fire detection system or failure of the power supply by means of a monitored battery back up system incorporated within the door operator. In certain instances break out may be required to achieve the maximum possible escape width as both side wings and doors break out.
In certain applications this can be achieved but please contact 01462 477600 in the first instance.
At least 3,000 mm is required between door sets to achieve any kind of air lock effect. However as the majority of entrances are designed for two way traffic it is unlikely that even a deep lobby would act as an effective climate control. An airlock device can be incorporated which prevents the two sets of door being opened at the same time. However we would only recommend installing such a device in trained traffic situations due to the high potential of traffic flow problems. |
